If you are like me then you will be wondering when the weather will warm up, we can put all of the cardigans and anoraks back in the cupboard and start to relax and enjoy the summer ahead. So far this year, that promise is late in arriving and I have not even started preparations: the car is not polished and with the waining promise of summer so is my commitment to preparing the car – with one exception.
In one of my languishing moments of looking out of the window and watching grey skies and a very stiff breeze surging across the vistage and taking anything lighter than two pounds (about a kilo, for metric readers) I was brought to a very stark realisation: if the wind is blowing all of that stuff at that speed and it was to meet with one the intakes on my car going in the opposite direction at even a similar speed then I dared not think of the consequences. Except that I did and I looked for ways to protect the vulnerable areas of my car. The solution I decided upon said what it did on the can: “Styled for Protection” is what it said and I now have a set of Zunsport stainless steel wire mesh grilles on the apertures to my car.
I was sceptical about the promise of “easy fit”. It is not immediately synonymous with protection and strength but I was soon proved wrong when the package arrived the day after I made my order and read the instructions (Yes, I am of that age!). Come the following weekend I made my excuses for joining the shopping party as I would need at least half a day to achieve the fit I wanted. How wrong could I have been? The instructions said, “less than one hour” . I was finished in 52 minutes back in doors and watching the game, uninterrupted, for the rest of the afternoon. What is more, when the rest of the tribe returned home I had to show them what I had achieved. They were all impressed with the look and when macho son couldn’t pull the grilles out we were all impressed.
The final result of this tale is that I am totally happy with my additions to the car. Whatever this summer throws at my car I know that I am prepared, and ready for next winter too; and the one after that, and the one after that. Not only have I changed the visual appearance of my car I have also changed the soundtrack. Thank you Carole King, and thank you Zunsport.
